Florida law requires Naples,
Marco Island, Ft Myers, Cape Coral, and Bonita Springs Mold Assessors
to be licensed by the state of Florida (DBPR). many people feel our prices are "high" but they fail to understand ALL of our
inspectors are Certified Indoor Environmentalists (CIE). We identify the source of your mold problem, the extent
and we write recommendations for corrections based on nationally accepted industry standards. Most mold assessors were
"grandfathered" into the license. The Florida law requires those not "grandfathered" to pass an ACAC exam (CIE,
CIEC or CMC) and have 4 years experience.
http://acac.org/certify/FL.aspx CIE must
have years of proven experience and pass the ACAC exam. There are about a dozen ACAC certified mold assessors within 100 miles
of Naples, (out of 250 "licensed" mold assessors)
If you have a mold problem you need an independent company to identify
the problem and tell you what to do about it. You do not need someone doing mold assessment as a side job. We
regularly are called to identfy the source of a mold "problem" identified by a "licensed" mold assessor
only find there is not a problem. You need to have a detailed
report with recommendations for corrections the mold remediator can use for their proposal for cleanup. . Note: A mold inspection (visual & air sampling)
usually takes longer than a home inspection.

February 2011 News
February,
2011 The New Florida Mold Law was passed to protect the consumer. .
Mold
Air Sample Reports alone are not enough to determine the need for mold remediation (cleanup). |
| | Radon & Mold Professionals | Feb. 2011 |
Florida statute: "Mold assessment" means a process performed by a mold assessor that includes
the physical sampling and detailed evaluation of data obtained from a building history and inspection to formulate an initial
hypothesis about the origin, identity,
location, and extent of amplification of mold growth..."

EPA Considering
Bioaerosol Sampling - click here "remember that a negative sampling report must not be used in
place of a visual survey. Factors such as barometric pressure, inside and outside temperatures,
activity levels, and humidity may dramatically reduce or increase the spore levels within a building. Air sampling for mold
provides information on what was in the air only for the moment when the sampling occurred. It is important, therefore, that
sampling not replace visual inspection."
Mold Air Sample Report alone
does NOT identify where the mold is or the source, the visual inspection (assessment) determines the source, extent and amplification
of the mold problem.
- You
should not call a cleanup company when you just have elevated "mold air sample
report".
- You need a "mold inspection report"
to give to the mold cleanup company so they know what the problem is, where it is and what caused the mold problem. Only then
can the remediator can give you a proposal for cleanup based on the inspection report.
With detailed "mold Inspection report"
cleanup companies are bidding on cleaning up the same thing, identified by the mold assessor (inspector).

This is a great website with tons of valuable information:
http://www.inspectapedia.com/sickhouse/clearance.htm "What
is the Purpose of a Post Remediation Mold Clearance Inspection? The purpose of a mold clearance inspection is to assure
that the mold cleanup has been done correctly and effectively in the work area and to confirm that the cleanup did not accidentally
distribute high levels of moldy dust and debris into other building areas or into its mechanical systems such as heating or
air conditioning systems. "
"Can We Rely on Air Tests for Mold
after a Mold Cleanup Job? Simple air tests for mold after a mold remediation job may be quite unreliable as the airborne level of particles varies enormously from moment to moment, especially
depending on variables in building conditions such as we list below. An air test captures a small volume of air at a moment
in time and should not be used as the sole criteria for passing or failing a mold
clearance inspection and test. Here are some of the sources in variability in the level of indoor particles in air:"
